The Government Department manages a network of retail-like services and staff are in close contact with members of the public in this environment. In such environment, instances of workplace aggression can occur at any time and arrangements are required to maximise the protection of staff in anticipation.
Industry Risk personnel were contracted to assess, design and report recommendations over multiple projects aimed at minimising the risk of physical aggression. The scope canvassed office layouts and designs, lighting/signage/CCTV/barriers, methods for de-escalation and response procedures for normal business interactions and during in-house drug testing trials.
It was reported later that staff satisfaction with the primary measures that were recommended and implemented was 100% positive.
